This very rare Caltha is seldom available. It produces masses of pompom-like double yellow flowers in spring/early summer and mounds of shiny green heart-shaped leaves. It should not be confused with the common double marsh marigold, Caltha palustris 'Flore Pleno': Caltha palustris var. palustris 'Plena' has larger, more fluffy blooms, which are a slightly paler lemon yellow. It also flowers several weeks later than the common marsh marigolds: it is still blooming well into June. Therefore, when combined with another marigold such as Caltha palustris 'Flore Pleno', it is particularly useful for extending the flowering period of your pond.
