This pretty plant is a variety of the British native Purple Loosestrife. It has the same narrow leaves on tall stems and the same impressive flowers which are attractive to insects, but the leaves are a lighter green and the blooms are a lovely soft two-tone pink. So good it has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit (AGM). Although naturally quite a tall plant, pruning the shoots once or twice in spring before it flowers can bring it down to a much shorter height if desired and also make it a more bushy shape. Please note the lower leaves of this plant develop black speckles in the summer; this is normal and nothing to worry about.
