The classic and familiar cottongrass. This native British species has fluffy white heads on short dark-green stems, and slender grassy foliage which has touches of red in spring and autumn. It is shorter and much bushier than its cousin the Tufted Cottongrass, with broader leaves. Very easy to grow, it spreads by small underground stems at a slow to moderate rate. This makes it better for covering areas than the Tufted Cottongrass, but if you really don't want it to run it is best kept in a pot.
If designing a planting scheme, we recommend approximately 3 Eriophorum angustifolium plants per square foot of ground, or 1 - 2 plants per linear foot of pond edge. Read more here on how to pot and care for your plant.
