Collection: British Native Plants

This section contains only plants considered native to the British Isles, in the same form as they would be found in the wild. We do not include species that have arrived more recently and naturalised in Britain, such as Vallisneria or Calla, as these are not true natives.

Most native plants are easy to grow, though they can sometimes become untidy. To keep them looking more like cultivated garden plants and less like weeds, trim long stems and remove dead foliage as needed. Some may experience caterpillar damage in spring or summer. While this can be unsightly, it rarely harms the plant, and many gardeners value the benefits to butterflies and moths.
